About Karen
Karen Richardson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly twenty years in mental health, practicing in Maryland and Virginia. She sees all ages and takes particular joy in elementary-school-age children and their parents. Trained in EMDR and play therapy, she keeps her approach person-centered and flexible, shaped around each client. She is most at home helping with trauma, anxiety, ADHD, parenting, and religious trauma. She invites clients to get curious about how their experiences shaped them, and to imagine a meaningful future.
Early sessions are simply for getting to know each other. She wants clients to see their own strength and resilience, and she believes no one is beyond help. Karen grew up in southwestern Virginia. An introvert at heart, she is happiest walking in the woods, playing the piano, reading, or meeting a friend for coffee. She notices small pleasures most of us walk past, like a pretty rock, a cozy sweater, or the first wool-sock morning of fall.
